The Wave of Wood: Southern Ridges and Henderson Wave
by Christian
for Sunday, July 28th
This day started at our little beach house in Indonesia at 4:42 a.m. for other people in my family - but not me. The day started then because of the call to prayer in the little village next to us. The roosters had already started making noise too. I slept through the roosters and the call to prayer though in my parents' bed. I slept with them because the first night there when I was in my own bed with the mosquito net I saw a tiny bug on my fan. Then I thought I could feel bugs everywhere and I freaked out. It was creepy.
Leaving our beach house was kind of sad because it was so fun to be there (besides the bugs). But I was a little happy we were leaving so I didn't have to worry about snakes or centipedes. We got on the 8:35 a.m. ferry to go back to Singapore because we wanted to get home in time for church. When we got to church in Singapore though, it turned out that it had just ended one hour ago! The information online about when church started was wrong.

At Henderson Wave
We went home for a few hours. In the evening, we went to the Southern Ridges, a hiking trail inside the city. The first part of it was the Henderson Wave. It was really cool. Next on the trail was the Alkaff Mansion, then the garden terrace. Then we got to walk on the Forest Walk. The trail was really up high in the rainforest trees. I learned about the golden orb weaver spide and learned that they have rubber trees here. There is also this one type of tree that looks orange but that's just because of the algae on it. It started to get dark then so we couldn't finish the entire trail.

Hi Christian. Glad you were able to sleep later than 4:42 a.m. Sorry the information about when church started was wrong. The Southern Ridge sounds beautiful and interesting. Thanks for your good post. Much love, Grandmother Huber
ReplyDeleteGrandma Albrecht. Grandpa keeps telling me that he really wants some white rimmed glasses like yours. They are pretty cool. I remember going to girl's camp and feeling like there were bugs climbing all over me. That is distressing. Glad you enjoyed the day though.
