Entering Canada
by Christian
This morning, I drove into Canada with my family. I dropped my mom and Sarah Ann off at the Vancouver Convention Center so Sarah Ann could get ready to dance at the North American Irish Dance Championships tomorrow.
Then we went to the aquarium and saw a bunch of exhibits. My favorite exhibit was a cage filled with sea anemones and other different types of fish. They were cleaning the inside glass of it and some giant sea cucumbers were sticking to the glass. When the thing they were using to clean the glass with would hit them, they would sink to the bottom. It was so funny. Then I saw a couple more exhibits and went out front to meet my cousins. They had just flown into Vancouver that day. My aunt was supposed to come with them but she couldn’t get on the plane because my eighteen-month-old cousin didn’t have a passport. She had a birth certificate which is all the law saws you need to fly into Canada when you are little, but United wouldn’t let them on the plane anyway. (Editor’s comment: You have to have a passport to fly back to the US, but they aren’t flying to the US. They’re driving across the border and flying back to Texas from Portland, Oregon. And you only need a birth certificate for kids under 16 to drive across the border.) So my aunt had to buy a very expensive ticket to Seattle right then and come across the border that way. We saw a 4D show about one coral reef where all the fish were caught in fishermen’s lines. So now there are only little fish there. We also saw a show where these sea lions would come above water and fire water their mouths out at us like a hose. It was pretty funny. They were spitting at us. Then we saw otters and seals. After the aquarium, we drove to the big house we are all staying in. I played with all the cousins at the house and then at the park. It’s really fun to have all my cousins here.

Here I am with my cousins at the aquarium
The aquarium with your cousins sounds like lots of fun! When I used to scuba dive in Okinawa I found the sea cucumbers very interesting. So sorry your aunt had to buy the expensive ticket! Canada Place and the Vancouver c
