Biking at Stanley Park

by Rachel
for Friday, July 5th

I am feeling a little nervous about how I am going to handle jet lag given that I am still waking up at 6am (8am Wisconsin time) even though we have been in this time zone for a couple days now. Singapore is pretty much the exact opposite time -  so it should be interesting how I handle that.

We started the day out by going to Stanley Park. It is a large city park near downtown Vancouver. We had reserved bikes for our big group. It was raining but we decided to just wear rain jackets and bike anyway. After all, it rains a lot here! Our family biked the 8.8 kilometers around the perimeter of Stanley Park. It was beautiful. The path went around by the ocean. The clouds rolled over the mountains in the distance and it was really really pretty. We took lots of pictures and enjoyed the bike ride.

After the bike ride, we explored a couple parts of Stanley Park including Brockton Point with its famous totem poles, a rose garden, and the lookout at Prospect Point. The rose garden was very colorful.

After that, we headed to Granville Island. I was disappointed to find out that the name is misleading and it is not actually an isand, but rather just a piecce of land that sticks into the ocean. It is a cute area though and we ate dinner at the public market there after riding a cute, colorful aquabus around the bay.

We only have one more day left in Vancouver until we head to Olympic National Park. Vancouver is gorgeous and we have enjoyed being here.

  1. I can't wait to hear all about your entire trip. You have so much fun and enjoy all you find to do. So glad you are willing to share it with us. Not even rain will stop the Huber kids from going and doing!

  2. When your dad was on his mission we went to Stanley Park and loved it! It's so beautiful the way the mountains come right down to the ocean! Your aunts and uncle had fun playing in the ocean. We also enjoyed the totem poles and the lovely bridge. I like your rain attire! It looks like fun on the aquabus!
