Goodbye to Turkey
by Sarah Ann
I'm going to finish up yesterday first. Yesterday after Taylor's post, we walked back into the downtown area (our hotel is only a couple minutes walk from there) to find a place to eat dinner. The place we ate was really cool. We sat on these low couches around a table. We were near an open window that Christian kept climbing out of. The food was good. We ate pasta, a mashed potato meatball, and these tortilla things that were filled with feta cheese and potatoes that we could dip in yogurt sauce.
After dinner we went to Gulhane Park, which used to be part of the Topkapi palace grounds. This was the third night we've gone there. It's a good place to relax. There are fountains, flowers, and playgrounds.
That night for the first time, none of us woke up when they did the 3:15 a.m. call to prayer!
Today, we packed our suitcases so we can check out of the hotel. We're going to leave our stuff here while we go to the Archeological Museum. Then we'll come back and get a ride to the airport. We're going to fly to South Korea. We'll still be on Turkish Airlines so I hope our flight is as cool as the flight here was. The flight will be ten hours again and we will have a six hour time change.
I'm really sad to leave Turkey but I'm really happy because my dad is going to meet us in South Korea and I haven't seen him in six week.
