Another Travel Day

by Taylor
for Friday, July 2nd

Today wasn't really that interesting. All we did was wake up and fly to Sri Lanka with an 8 hour layover in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. We bought our tickets to Sri Lanka in January. Then there were the terrorist bombings on Easter Sunday. Several countries issued travel bans for Sri Lanka. We've been watching it closely to make sure it was safe. The travel bans were lifted and after doing some research, we decided to go. Because of the bombings, all of the security is increased though. Right before the hotel there was a gate we had to pass with about four guards with guns. Before the bombings, Sri Lanka was listed as safer than Germany by the US State Department. And it's still pretty safe. Unfortunately, our plane got delayed and the 8 hours turned into 10. The flights went smoothly though and we arrived safely in Sri Lanka. It was really late at night and we were all pretty tired. There is also a 2.5 hour time change between Singapore and Sri Lanka. That 2.5 hour change means everything in Sri Lanka is on the half hour compared to the rest of the world.
