A Hike at the Cliffs of Moher and a Plan to Get Rid of Us

Today we got up and Sarah Ann, Mom, and Dad had a Full Irish breakfast and I decided to have the thing called “continental breakfast,” which just turned out to be toast and yogurt. The Full Irish breakfast had eggs, ham/bacon, tomatos, hashbrown, sausage, and "dark and light pudding." My family learned later that the dark pudding had pigs blood. I had one and a half pieces of toast (one nutella and one-half strawberry jam), and then we left for the Cliffs of Moher.

At the cliffs, we watched a movie that had no words, just a showcasing of the wildlife there. There was an exhibit that taught us about the climate of Ireland and such. Then we did a small hike along the edge of the cliffs. We went up to this tower. I thought it would be a nice view at the top but there were big stone what-ya-ma-call-its in the way. After we came down from the disappointing view, we continued along the edge of the cliffs on a longer hike.

When we came back, we got in the car and went to catch our reserved boat ride for the Aran islands, just to find out–*sigh* –that we couldn’t go. The boat had canceled our tour.

Our parents reserved a boat tour for the Cliffs of Moher instead. The tour would leave an hour-and-a-half later. In the meantime, we went to a town called Ennis. We walked around very fun waterfalls to get to the town from where we parked. We looked for a treat. I was craving ice cream and Mom said I could have some if we found a place with it. We looked around and found a bakery. Sarah Ann, Mom, and Dad got treats there, and the lady working there told us we should go to a store called Spar (S-P-A-R, she spelled it out for us). Sarah Ann and I hadn’t heard the lady, but Dad sent us with 15 euros to go to a store called SPIRE (S-P-I-R-E, he spelled it out for us). Apparently it was a plan to get rid of us. There was no “Spire.” The only place we could get ice cream was this place called Spar. We walked to the edge of town, looking for “Spire.” His evil plan would have worked if we weren’t on the lookout and saw Mom walk into Spar. After our father’s plan was spoiled, he claimed not to have been trying to get rid of us (whatever that means, of course he was). We got some ice cream at Spar. I didn’t realize it at the time, but I got a Coca-Cola flavored popsicle. Bleh. It did not agree with my stomach.

The very fun waterfalls we had to walk around (and Sarah Ann and I walked through them a bit too)

Ennis

We thought this sign was funny

A view along the drive

We left Ennis and returned to the boat place, walked around the beach, and got on the boat for the Cliffs of Moher tour. Honestly, I couldn't tell you what was happening on the tour–I was too busy thinking about Garfield.

Apparently, there were some nice views from the boat ride.

After the tour, we went to a pub, had dinner, came home, and Sarah Ann changed into her dance clothes to get ready to dance at a different pub. Meanwhile, I slept.
